How to act as if to grow your business

If you’ve ever heard someone tell you to “just act as if” in your business and you immediately wanted to throw something…same. It’s one of the most powerful tools in manifestation and business growth, but also one of the most misunderstood. So let’s clear it up, because this one concept? It will explode your business if you know how to use it.

First of all, let’s get this straight…acting as if is not a trend. It’s not about being delusional or pretending you’re already rich by doing cartwheels in your living room. That’s not it. Acting as if is about embodiment. Embodiment makes way for alignment. It’s about becoming the version of you who already has what she wants and showing up in your business from that place.

But a lot of people misunderstand it, try it for five minutes, say “this feels weird,” and then abandon it completely. And I get it. I did too, until I learned how it actually works.

So before we get into the three core components of how to act as if in your business, we need to talk about what acting as if isn’t because the confusion usually starts right there.

Acting As If Is Not Faking It

Let’s talk about the difference between acting as if and “faking it till you make it.”

A lot of people confuse the two, and it’s a problem. Because when you fake it, you’re pretending and performing. You’re doing what you think a successful woman should do based on what you see online or what other people tell you.

You’re not moving from alignment and you sure aren’t moving from truth. Instead, you think you need to play a role and worse, you’re labeling yourself as fake. So what does your subconscious do? It latches onto that. “I’m fake.” Or, “I’m a fraud.” Hello imposter syndrome. Welcome exhaustion. Enter in wondering why it’s not working.

Even if you’re doing the “right” actions, if they’re rooted in pretending, your nervous system isn’t going to believe you’re safe to receive. That’s why it feels heavy and that’s why you burn out. You’re reinforcing that you’re not that person. Because you’re playing dress up.

That’s not what acting as if is.

Make acting as if work for you by embodying your ideal self.

Acting As If Is Embodiment

Acting as if is not pretending. It’s embodying.

This means fully stepping into the version of you who already has what she wants. It’s believing, feeling, and acting from her place. Acting as if is not hoping you’ll “get there,” but living like you already are.

It’s not “let me act like I’m rich so I’ll become rich.” On the contrary, it’s “let me feel into the version of me who already knows she’s supported, capable, and magnetic by align my thoughts, emotions, and actions with her.”

And that shift is everything.

Your business doesn’t grow from copying someone else’s formula. It grows from the identity you hold. You can take someone’s strategy and make it yours but when you imitate their delivery, their vibe, their voice? That’s faking it and why it feels off.

Let me give you an example, I use the Magic Marketing Machine* for my content strategy. I love Jenna and think she’s brilliant. But I don’t try to be Jenna. I don’t mimic her exact videos or energy, because that’s not my identity. She doesn’t teach that either…she literally gives you B-roll and says, “Steal this,” so you can adapt it to you.

But a lot of people don’t. They see a strategy and think they have to become the person who created it. That’s not acting as if. Imitation is  performance and performance burns out faster than momentum builds.

Your Business Grows From the Identity You Act From

So maybe you’re thinking, “Okay, but I’m not yet the version of me I want to be.”

That’s exactly why acting as if is powerful. Because if you keep showing up from your past (past thoughts, past fears, past decisions) you’re going to keep creating from that version. You’re going to stay stuck.

But if you start showing up as the version of you who already has her systems in place, who’s grounded, who knows her offer is valuable…you shift. When you shift you expand and your business grows with you.

Acting as if trains your brain, your nervous system, and your habits to normalize success before the physical proof shows up. That’s manifestation. Creating from within. Letting your inner world lead.

But it’s not a one-time thing. It’s not a journal prompt you do once and move on. It’s a practice. When I say practice I mean a skill It’s a skill like a muscle…the more you do it the more it builds over time.

Acting as if is the best way to grow your business.

Acting As If is an Evolution

Let me stop right here and say something important: You are not broken.

When we talk about “acting as if” you’re someone new, it doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with who you are now. It means you’re evolving.

Acting as if isn’t a rejection of your current self. It’s an expansion. You’re not escaping who you are, you’re unfolding into what’s next.

I’ve spent decades as a mom. I have six kids, and my youngest is graduating high school this week. That’s a new season of life. It doesn’t mean I was broken before. It means that part of my identity, in-the-thick-of-it mom is shifting.

And because my life is shifting, I will be different. I won’t be better or worse, just different because life evolves.

It’s the same in business. You’re stepping into a new role, a new energy, a new way of showing up. You’re not fixing something broken. Babe, you’re building something new.

So if you’re a woman going from corporate to entrepreneurship… from hiding online to showing up as a leader… from stuck to starting… this isn’t about shame. It’s about momentum.

Acting As If Is a Practice

You’re not going to hold the vibe of your next-level self to act as if all day long at first. And that’s okay. You might start with 10 minutes where you really feel her. Then the next day, it’s 12 minutes. Eventually, maybe 20 minutes. Over time, you hold it longer. You come back to it faster.

One day, you look up and realize…you are her.

That’s what happened when I started my business. It wasn’t natural. I had to build into it. Same for you. That’s why I created the Manifest Momentum Ritual, to help you stay in it daily, like a personal trainer for your mindset and alignment.

Because you’re already acting as if something. Every day. You’re either acting as if your current reality is permanent…or you’re acting as if the version you want is inevitable.

So let’s get into the three components that bring it all together.

Use these 3 ways to act as if daily in your business

1. Your Thoughts to Guide You Acting As If

You’ve heard it before…what you think, you attract. But let’s go deeper.

I’m not talking about bypassing your reality. I’m talking about choosing thoughts that expand you instead of keeping you stuck. Are you thinking things like:

  • “No one’s buying.”
  • “It’s hard to grow.”
  • “I’m not good at selling.”

If so, ask yourself: would my future self think that?

Probably not. She’d be thinking:

  • “My audience is growing.”
  • “My offer is valuable.”
  • “I’m building momentum.”

That’s why I created my Manifest Momentum Ritual. Because when you focus on what’s working, even if it’s small, you build belief. And that belief shapes your reality when you are working on how to act as if.

2. Your Emotions As a Powerhouse to Act As If

Your emotions are your vibrational magnet. If you’re thinking positive thoughts but feeling anxious, you’re still manifesting from lack. So we tune into the feelings that match your next-level self. These could be confidence, calm, trust, and/or excitement.

You can do this however works for you. For me, it’s meditation. But for my husband, it’s music. Maybe for you, it’s journaling or movement. However you access those emotions, do it on purpose. Make it part of your daily energy hygiene.

Inside my ritual, I guide you through it step-by-step. Because your emotions aren’t just reactions, they’re instructions to your body and your energy field.

3. Your Actions When Acting As If

Fiinally, you act. Not from pressure, not from performance but from alignment.

Ask yourself what actions you would take as the version of yourself. What would she do today? Would she launch it, post it, rest, delegate, say no?

Aligned action may stretch you but it won’t betray you. It doesn’t feel fake. It feels clear, even when it feels big.

When you act from this space (where your thoughts, emotions, and actions are working together) you don’t just get results. You become a match for the business you’ve been trying to force into place.
